Hermosa Beach Says NO to New Business Taxes

Good news for business owners in Hermosa Beach. The Hermosa Beach City Council has decided not to increase hotel taxes and business license fees by refusing to put the proposed increases on the November ballot, the Daily Breeze reported. As part of the proposed budget, staff members had recommended that the City Council consider raising hotel taxes from 10 to 12 percent and business license fees by up to 50 percent for restaurants that serve alcohol. Council members voted against both increases in a 3-1 vote Tuesday. Chamber of Commerce representatives as well as local hotel owners and business owners spoke against the proposed tax and fee hikes at Tuesday's meeting.
