Forbes magazine has an interesting article on places to live from Happy Hootervilles to I.Q. Campuses that are considered to be affordable... roughly $500,000 or less. Price ranges seem to run from about $200,000 to $500,000. The list is from a book by Rich Karlgaard called Life 2.0 which features 150 locales in the US where the standard of living is more affordable then major metropolitan areas.
Many of these cities are not too far from the Big City in miles but light years apart in price. Just click on Forbes Article to check out a sample of locales and available homes.
