Rents Increasing in Beach Cities and Los Angeles County

The Los Angeles Times has an article on rising rents in California. The article states that Los Angeles County rents rose about 7.6 % on average to $1,546 during the third quarter.
I think rents in the South Bay are up between 8-10% depending on location. El Segundo has very few rentals. It's hard to find a one bedroom in Manhattan or Hermosa under $1,450. One bedrooms along the Esplanade and in the Village are currently between $1650-$2,000 depending on views.
The following information is from South Bay Rentals as of October 19, 2006 and is for Aptartments, Condos, Townhomes and Single Family Homes:

El Segundo: There are 7 rentals available. Prices range from $1,000( 1 bedroom apt) - $3,200 per month.

Manhattan Beach: There are 48 available. Prices range from $1,495( 1 bedroom apt))-$20,000 per month

Hermosa Beach: There are 50 available. Prices range from $800 ( unfurnished studio) to $8,500.

North Redondo: There are 50 available. Prices range from $800 ( unfurnished studio) to $5,995.

South Redondo: There are 34 available. Prices range from $995 ( 1 bedroom apt) to $5,500

On the MLS there are 54 available rentals from El Segundo to South Redondo. The least expensive is $1,600 in Hermosa Beach and the most expensive is $33,000 for a Strand Home in Manhattan Beach.
