The Sunday Real Estate Section of The LA Times had an interesting article on peer pressure and the real estate maket. The article is by Diane Wedner and is titled: Meet The Flockers.
The premise of the article is that no one wants to be the first to lower their price if you are a seller or the first to buy if your friends are not buying. During Bull markets people are afraid they will lose if they don't buy and in Bubble markets they are afraid they will lose if they do buy.
The article questions whether buyers and sellers are taking the advice of their co-workers or their tax advisor. It's a good read if you missed it. Click the LA Times link above to read the full article.
