Manhattan Beach Pays for Mistakes

The old saying that the squeaky wheel gets the grease has proved true for tree section residents who have had improvements done to their streets in recent months. If you saw last week's city council meeting then you know residents on Oak were very upset about work done on their street. The construction work was deemed shoddy by the majority of residents. Water was not draining toward the street anymore and much of the decorative parking pads along the street were no longer very attractive. One resident calculated that the city had taken 10 inches from his front yard.. which doesn't seem like much until you decide to do something with your sewer and 10 inches off is a big deal.
But all is well as the city did listen and has agreed to spend $54,000 to fix the problems. There is a budget for an additional $75,000 to cover future problems..
